Few personalities, whether local or foreign, can go through an emotional roller coaster of a life and survive with their sanity intact. While most get beaten down and broken, there are those who take it all in and forge on with the course they’ve charted for themselves. A select few will triumph at the end of it all, but for those few who survive these obstacles, the journey is made sweeter by these difficulties. Though not at the end of her career by any means, Valerie Concepcion seems to be on her way to being one of those who will win at the end of it all.
Starting out as a rising teenybopper. She would later become a single mom who would continue soldiering on with her career. Throughout the years, she has evolved into a force to be reckoned with, be it as dramatic actress, leading lady, variety show co-host or the sexy vixen. From being part of whirlwind romances (“I was really in love back then”) to her recent controversial tweets (“I apologized for having offended people but it was an innocent tweet on my part”), she has endured many storms. In spite of all of this, here she stands, still captivating and enticing with no trace on her visage of the trials that she has endured.
Here she is right now, at the very pages of PLAYBOY, mesmerizing us with her provocative personality made both stronger and sexier by all that she’s been through. She confesses that there was a time when she thought that she’d never pose again, a thought that probably sends shivers down many a hot-blooded man’s spine, but the idea of being part of the legacy of PLAYBOY was very intriguing.“May mga nagtatanong noon pa kung kailan ulit, tapos nung sinabing all-new PLAYBOY, I felt honored!” she said in all humility.
As evidenced by the photos, she is fearless with her choices, probably a result of her tumultuous life. She is also one of the most versatile celebrities out there, able to take on whatever role is called for. She can be as naughty or as nice as you need her to be. She can be as effective as anyone when playing jolly co-host in noontime variety shows; she is equally as convincing as the fiery femme fatale who is sensual one minute and diabolic the next.
“Honestly, I don’t see myself as a strong woman,” Valerie noted. “Pero looking back at what I have been through, I do think na kaya kong lagpasan kahit na ano.” Being the breadwinner of the family, she says she has no regrets whatsoever and she will face any challenge and obstacle that faces her. “I don’t see myself doing anything else,” she firmly added. Despite having a few business endeavors on the side, she sees herself as a show business kind of girl through and through, welcome news for the legion of fans that wish to continue seeing the lovely provocateur on TV.
Aside from the aforementioned strong will she has, it is also noteworthy and remarkable that she has no fear when it comes to her field of work. Already, she plans on concentrating on her acting this 2012. Her plans include a 180-degree turn in terms of characters she has been portraying. Valerie plans to veer away from the villainous roles that she’s been playing. A bit risky, having carved her own niche in hosting, but she already has a show to kick off the New Year.
In spite of her on-screen persona, she claims that she isn’t the sly and conniving person who will stop at nothing to reach her goals.“I do get mad and serious, pero masyadong mahaba ang pasensya ko,” Valerie clarified. Quite a relief, considering she has the support of kids who find her charming and men who worship her beauty.
