Philanthropy has and will always be part of the sophisticated PLAYBOY lifestyle. In keeping with the thrust of the Playboy Foundation as established by Hugh Hefner in 1965, an art auction was done at the Solaire Resort and Casino during last year’s Playmate of the Year at the Philippine Gala. Held for the benefit of GivesBack Foundation, the Playmate of the Year at the Philippine Gala Art Auction is now an international platform for cultural partnerships. The foundation has been helping major medical institutions in Metro Manila since the inception of the PLAYBOY Philippines in 2008.
Several weeks before the event, talented local artists Grandier Bella, Brian Bernardo, Stan Catacutan, Jayson Cortez, Tamara De Jesus, Maisha dela Cruz, Jaypee Enriquez, Fernando Escora, Piaget Martelino, Yao Sampana, Jukus Sepada, and Satchi Tan were commissioned to create paintings inspired by the International Playmates. These paintings were then auctioned off in the exclusive event, several days before the gala itself. During the auction night and pool party, guests were also introduced to last year’s line-up of International Playmates as well as Poland’s Playmate Kasia Danysz, South Africa’s Playmate Kandra Van Der Bank, and Netherlands’ Playmate Zimra Geurts from the 2012 Playmate of the Year at the Philippine Gala.
Among the paintings that sold for the highest prices were Grandier Bella’s masterpiece which was inspired by Poland’s Playmate Marta Zawisza, Jayson Cortez’s multimedia piece inspired by Philippines’ Playmate Jobie Quinn, and Jaypee Enriquez’s rendering of Romania’s Playmate Rellys Tonu.
